Burglary, huge Medicare fraud, CPF account scam… these 4 cases solved by the Grasse gendarmerie

They are on all fronts… Last week, we presented to you the narcotics cases and the networks dismantled by the gendarmes of the Grasse company. Today, back to the biggest scams, burglaries and fraud unmasked by the soldiers of the city of Perfumes in recent months.

Serial burglar caught in the act

It was on a stolen scooter that a burglar was first spotted by the gendarmes in March 2022. Caught in the shadows, the man in his twenties committed around fifty burglaries in nine days between Cannes, Grasse and as far as the Var! With a crowbar, the suspect essentially attacks businesses. He is arrested in flagrante delicto with his loot.

The search of his home made it possible to find some of the stolen objects. The alleged perpetrator is now in pre-trial detention awaiting trial.

Luxury goods thief arrested

These alleged burglars, in their twenties, raged from Spéracèdes to La Roquette via Mouans-Sartoux. Their target? The luxury products, watches, jewelry, bags, shoes that were in the villas that they opened with a crowbar…

Noticed at the end of last April by the gendarmes while they were in the middle of scouting, these Cannes residents in their twenties were arrested in flagrante delicto and placed in pre-trial detention pending trial.

A huge Medicare fraud

Two years of investigation have unmasked the dubious practices of a liberal nurse who raged through the department. Several irregularities, in particular a particularly high turnover compared to the low number of patients, alerted the Primary Health Insurance Fund.

The gendarmes of Grasse, during their investigations, discovered that the nurse overcharged and falsified numerous acts, in order to collect reimbursements from social security for several years. A very lucrative scam, abusing a hundred patients: nearly 220,000 euros in overbilling and 130,000 euros in undue benefits!

A multi-million CPF training account scam

It is a case with national repercussions which caused several thousand victims and mobilized 80 soldiers across the country last November. After the complaint of a Grassois, the gendarmes of the city of Perfumes went up the track of an organized gang which debited the professional training accounts while the services were not carried out. Eight people in total would have received 5 million euros of public funds before being unmasked. During the searches, more than a million criminal assets were seized, including three luxury vehicles and 120,000 euros in cash.

Of the eight men and women charged, two were remanded in custody and the others under judicial supervision.
