Burglary at the former Transcom premises in Montluçon (Allier): two men convicted and damage estimated at €42,000

For having entered the former premises of the Transcom call center, near Athanor in Montluçon (Allier), in order to steal copper, two men were sentenced to prison terms. Tried this Monday, May 16 in immediate appearance before the criminal court, these two Montluçonnais aged 25 and 27 committed their misdeeds on the night of May 12 to 13.

Facts

They first cut the mesh with pliers then broke a window, before picking up rolls of cables on the ground… And above all pulling ducts in order to recover the wires. That’s where the problem lies. And the two young people only learned of it after their arrest in the act by the police. Contrary to what they thought, the site is not abandoned but under construction.

Work undertaken by the Allier Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), owner of the building, to transform the premises into a computer assistance center. Which will then be transferred in the form of a financial lease to the integration company Recycléa, which should eventually employ up to three hundred people, including many disabled workers.

The Recyclea company should settle well in the former premises of Transcom in Montluçon (Allier) [15/06/2021]

The damages

However, the damage caused will cause large expenses for the company A2CE, in charge of all the electricity part of the site. But also the delay in the work, the end of which was initially scheduled for next September. The financial loss was thus assessed at 42,270 euros excluding taxes for A2CE and it is still being estimated for the CCI. As for the delay, it will be three weeks to repair all the damage.

This is why the CCI and A2CE have brought civil action in this case. “We will have to resort to night work to meet the deadlines,” said Me Daffy, their adviser. “The facts are simple but very unpleasant for these two companies,” lamented the public prosecutor.

Judgments

In defense, Me Bourdier spoke of “two amateurs worthy of humorous comics, who lit up with the telephone because their lamp had broken down”.
But not enough to cheer up the court, which more or less followed the requisitions of the prosecution.

The older of the two defendants, Bryan Abad

, in a state of recidivism, was sentenced to three years in prison, including one year firm. He is kept in detention. His sidekick, who had never been convicted for similar acts, got away with two years entirely with a probationary reprieve.

In accordance with our miscellaneous facts charter, the identity of the defendants is given from one year onwards with a warrant of deposit. This explains why only the identity of the older of the two men appears here.
