A British Museum employee was sacked after part of the collection was found to be missing. Among the missing exhibits are gold jewelry and precious stones.
The museum, which is one of the most visited in the world, announced that they had filed a complaint against the employee and that security measures were being reviewed.
The missing exhibits are dated from different periods – from the 15th century BC to the 19th century AD. None of them have been on public display, but have been kept in storage for research and academic purposes, it said BNT.
