Burger King appeals: Order at McDonald’s

Burger King’s customers certainly did not expect such a statement. On social media in the UK and France, this popular fast food chain surprised them with a request to order food from its main competitor, McDonald’s.

“We never thought we would ask you to do this. Just as we never thought we would encourage you to order food from KFC, Subway, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut,” we read in the statement. The Burger King appeal aims to draw attention to the problems of the catering industry in the face of restrictions introduced in connection with the coronavirus epidemic.

The chain asks to buy food from McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell or other chain restaurants, but also in independent bars, which are “too many to list”. As highlighted in the press release, restaurants with thousands of employees really need support now.

“If you want to help, don’t feel sorry for delicious food by ordering home delivery, takeaway or drive thru. Whopper is always the best choice, but ordering a Big Mac is not such a bad idea,” says Burger King.

The network’s announcement turned out to be a good marketing idea, as it almost instantly spread on social media.
