Burger entrepreneurs rented private plane to multi-billionaire to celebrate themselves in Manchester – E24

In six years, the burger chain The Shack has gone from zero to 40 million kroner in turnover. This weekend, the four founders celebrate with a trip to Manchester in the private plane of multi-billionaire Jakob Hatteland.

Rune Ludvigsen and Kenneth Pedersen are two of the founders of the burger chain The Shack.

– The plan was certainly not for Aftenbladet to catch this, but it is going perfectly well. We have not exactly been in the habit of sticking out after we started up six years ago, so it will work for this time, says a laughing Gunnar Ellingsen when Aftenbladet / E24 gets in touch a little hour after he posted a picture on LinkedIn.

“Hard work – so celebration”

The photo shows two of the four founders of the hamburger chain The Shack on board a plane. The screen on the back says “Hatteland”.

“I’m a type who is concerned with work and then celebration. Today, the founders of The Shack departed in Jakob Hatteland’s private plane. Destination: Manchester. Tomorrow we go to battle, exactly 6 years since we opened the store. All are United fans. We are betting on United’s victory. Lesson? Create insane experiences “, writes Gunnar Ellingsen in the post.

To Aftenbladet / E24, he elaborates on how this is connected.

– I know a little about Jakob Hatteland from before. Also once before I have been allowed to rent his private plane, and now I was allowed to borrow it again. It is very cool and I am very grateful for that, says Ellingsen.

According to the website Infogram Jakob Hatteland will be in possession of a Bombardier Challenger 350 aircraft with room for 8-10 passengers. The aircraft is from 2017 and will have a market price of NOK 168 million.

It is an aircraft owned by this type of Jakob Hatteland.

Good for over 5 billion

Jakob Hatteland is a successful series founder from Nedre Vats in Rogaland. He became a billionaire when he sold most of the company Autostore, which develops and offers robotic storage systems, to the Swedish acquisition fund EQT in 2016 for around four billion kroner. According to Kapital, he is worth NOK 5.15 billion, which places him in 65th place on the list of Norway’s richest.

– Jakob Hatteland is an absolutely fantastic series founder. I really look up to him, says Gunnar Ellingsen.

– Have you talked business also in addition to renting his plane?

– No, we actually do not have that. But it would have been cool if we could once do something together.

Rounds 40 million

Now Gunnar Ellingsen and his three other partners are also about to fall into the category of «successful entrepreneurs». In the course of six years, they have developed The Shack to become a medium-sized company that this year will have a turnover of NOK 40 million, according to Ellingsen.

– Last year, turnover landed at just under NOK 30 million. This year we are set to increase by around 10 million. The result before tax will probably be around 6 million, says Ellingsen, who says that there is a lot of blood, sweat and tears behind the hefty burger sales.

– We have worked almost around the clock, seven days a week, for six years. It has yielded results. In our industry, it is actually quite unusual to persevere for so many years without having to wind up or other problems arise. It is a bit in light of this that we now chose to hit the big drum a bit with a trip to Manchester to see United with Ole Gunnar Solskjær in the coaching chair. Yes, we think we deserve to celebrate ourselves a little – and we must dare to show and say.

Opens soon in Sola

The Shack has five restaurants and take-away outlets; At Madla, Mariero, Tasta, in the center of Stavanger and at Bryne. And soon comes the sixth establishment – in Sola.

– We are growing and we want to expand with new sales steadily. But it must be in the right place at the right time. We do not open a new place just to open, says Gunnar Ellingsen.

The company Kokkekompisene is behind The Shack. It is owned by Bernt Ellingsen (34.8 percent), Gunnar Ellingsen (25.2 percent), Kenneth Pedersen (20 percent) and Rune Ludvigsen (20 percent).
