The Municipal Council in Burgas on the proposal to build a Lawyer’s House. The building will be located in the district “Bratya Miladinovi”, near the Military Hospital and will have a built-up area of 569.32 sq.m. The project was supported by the Bar Association in our city.
From there, they are motivated by the fact that, since its establishment and until now, the college, which is the fourth largest in the country, has not had its own “home”.
The lack of a building fund with normal working conditions creates difficulties in the activity related to the protection of the rights and legal freedoms of the citizens and legal entities in the region and in providing the court and the bodies of the pre-trial proceedings with the necessary qualified lawyers.
The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the Burgas Bar Association is one of the fastest growing bar associations in the country with more than 700 registered lawyers. This trend follows the increase in the population in the district and in particular in the municipality of Burgas.
According to the petitioners, many free services for the citizens of Burgas and the region will be offered in this Lawyer’s House, such as:
a counseling center that will offer qualified legal assistance to victims of domestic violence; protection of our vulnerable fellow citizens and those who do not have the means to provide legal assistance; communication between lawyers in the Burgas region will be facilitated and seminars will be held, a library for legal literature will be built; training and the construction of a semi-professional electoral administration.
Every day, between 40 and 50 requests for legal assistance are received in the administration of AK – Burgas, which currently operates in a small room, part of an apartment that serves as an office of the College.
The realization of the free legal aid requires the holding of meetings between the lawyer and his trustee, for which AK – Burgas does not have the necessary premises and conditions.
This creates serious difficulties, which the College is currently overcoming according to its capabilities, thanks to the motivation of Burgas lawyers to fulfill their duties conscientiously and with an understanding of the needs of the persons who sought legal assistance.
The construction of our own building will allow all these important actions of providing free legal aid to the most vulnerable groups in our society to be carried out under normal conditions, guaranteeing a calm and confidential environment for citizens.
