University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” – Burgas will help the development of health care in Dobrich by training students in the specialty “Nursing” in its branch in the city.
This comes in response to the desire of the local government to employ healthcare professionals with degrees from a reputable university in the hospitals and medical centers in the municipality.
The establishment of the branch was first approved by the Academic Council of the university, and yesterday it was officially voted on at a meeting of the Municipal Council – Dobrich. A building to house it was also allocated.
The branch is expected to open its doors in the academic year 2025-2026 and to receive between 25-30 people per year. More details were announced at a press conference for the media in the Municipality of Dobrich. It was attended by the mayor of the municipality Yordan Yordanov, the rector of the university Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozov, MD, the chairman of the OBS-Dobrich Krasimir Nikolov and the director of the MBAL Dobrich Dr. Georgi Jeliazkov.
“Our main goal is both to conduct quality health education on the territory of the city of Dobrich, and to give impetus to the city’s positioning as an educational center in Dobruja,” said Prof. Bozov.
The future nurses who will be trained in the branch will be able to work not only in the hospital, but also in all nurseries, schools and social institutions on the territory of the municipality.
“The training of these health care professionals is complex and other specialties will be able to be involved. It will be valuable not only for these 100-120 nurses that we will be training, but also for the city as an opportunity for growth. I hope that we will continue the joint efforts to finalize this procedure with the support of the whole good public”, added Prof. Bozov.
He thanked the mayor of the municipality, the Municipal Council, all the people’s representatives from Dobrich and especially Mrs. Denitsa Sacheva and Mrs. Maya Manolova for their support and help.
