In the second quarter of 2024, the total number of employed persons in the Burgas region is 179.2 thousand, of which 97.8 thousand are men and 81.4 thousand are women. Compared to the second quarter of 2023, the number of employed persons increased by 5.5%.
The employment rate in the Burgas region in the second quarter of 2024 was 55.1% (at 53.2% for the country), and compared to the same quarter of 2023, it increased by 2.0 percentage points. The employment rate for men is 63.7%, and for women – 47.4%.
In terms of the number of employed persons, the Burgas region is in fourth place in the country, after the Varna region (235.4 thousand) and before the Blagoevgrad region (137.4 thousand), and in terms of employment rate – in the 4th place, after the Blagoevgrad region (56.1% ) and before Yambol region (54.9%).
In the second quarter of 2024, the total number of employed persons in the age group 15-64 in the Burgas region is 172.8 thousand, of which 94.5 thousand are men and 78.3 thousand are women. Compared to the second quarter of 2023, the number of employed persons increased by 5.8%.
The employment rate for the population in the same age group is 72.4%, respectively 79.6% for men and 65.3% for women. Compared to the same quarter of 2023, the employment rate in this age group increased by 3.3 percentage points.
In terms of the number of employed persons aged 15 – 64, Burgas region is in fourth place in the country, after Varna region (229.9 thousand) and before Blagoevgrad region (133.4 thousand), and in terms of employment rate together with Pleven region – on 8th place, after Smolyan region (72.7%) and before Stara Zagora region (72.2%).
