According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute, there are 122.3 thousand employed persons in the Burgas region as of the end of June 2024.
In the structure of employed persons in economic activities, the largest relative share of employed persons is in the “Hospitality and restaurant industry” activities – with 16.9% and “Trade; Repair of cars and motorcycles” – with 16.4%.
In terms of the number of persons employed in terms of employment and service, the district ranks 4th among the 28 districts in the country.
In the Burgas region, the average gross monthly salary in the second quarter of 2024 is BGN 1,804, compared to the national average of BGN 2,296.
Compared to the other regions of the country, according to the indicator of average gross monthly salary in the second quarter of 2024, the region of Burgas ranks 13th.
The highest average salary is received by those employed in the district of Sofia (the capital) – BGN 3,129, and the lowest – in the districts of Blagoevgrad – BGN 1,519, Smolyan – BGN 1,535 and Kyustendil – BGN 1,565.
In the second quarter of 2024, the average gross monthly salary in the Burgas region increased by 5.7% compared to the first quarter of 2024. The economic activities in which the largest increase was registered were “Hospitality and restaurant industry” – by 18.0% and “Government” – by 11.4%.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the average monthly salary in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 19.9%, in the public sector the increase was by 25.4%, and in the private sector by 17.4%.
