On February 19, with a series of events, Burgas will honor the memory of the Apostle of Freedom, Vasil Levski. The celebration of 151 years since the death of the genius revolutionary, who gave his life in the struggle of the Bulgarians for national liberation from the Ottoman yoke, will begin at 11:00 a.m. at his monument in Primorski Park. First, the Burgas clergy will offer a funeral prayer. After that, a military ritual will be held with the participation of representative military units from the Burgas garrison. Finally, the appreciative citizens of Burgas will present wreaths and flowers.
At the Center for Contemporary Art and Library, 14 “Sredna Gora” St., from 5:30 p.m., the play “Vasil – the future Levski” will be presented, a work of the theater school “Children’s Kingdom” at the CPLR – Burgas.
At 18:30 a torchlight procession will be held in memory of Vasil Levski. It is traditionally attended by students from Burgas schools, as well as anyone else who wishes. The meeting point is at Kompasa on Aleksandrovska Street, between 18:00 and 18:30 on February 19, Monday. The procession will pass along the route: “Aleksandrovska” street – “Bogoridi” street – to the monument of the Apostle in Primorski Park.
We invite citizens who wish to participate to obtain torches from licensed manufacturers, for their personal and the general safety of the participants in the procession.
