Customs officers from the “Customs Intelligence and Investigation” department at TD Customs House Burgas seized 542 electronic cigarettes, 1,775 packs of nicotine liquids for electronic cigarettes and 436 packs of nicotine pouches.
The goods were detained for established violations of the excise legislation during inspections in commercial establishments on the territory of the city of Burgas.
On 19.02.2024, customs officials carried out an inspection in a specialized store in Burgas, which has a permit to trade in tobacco products. In the course of the control actions, the inspectors found in a cabinet next to the cash register 16 disposable electronic cigarettes with nicotine, without a Bulgarian excise label, as well as 223 packages of 10 ml liquids for electronic cigarettes with nicotine of various commercial brands, also without an excise label.
Another 1,552 packages of nicotine liquids for electronic cigarettes, without an excise label, were found in a cellar of the commercial establishment, adapted for storage.
During another inspection on 13.02.2024, in a commercial outlet in the territory of the city of Burgas, it was found that electronic cigarettes and nicotine pouches are offered there, but the commercial company managing the store does not have a permit to trade in tobacco products.
436 packs of nicotine pouches and 317 electronic cigarettes with a valid Bulgarian excise label, as well as 99 electronic cigarettes without a Bulgarian excise label, were seized from the commercial establishment. An inspection was also carried out in the residential property of the manager of the company and there were found another 110 disposable electronic cigarettes with nicotine, without a Bulgarian excise label.
A total of 2,753 excise goods in separate consumer packages have been seized and administrative criminal proceedings will be instituted in the cases.
