PGSAG “Kole Ficheto” – Burgas equips a teaching laboratory where students from the “Construction Technician” specialty can pour concrete in their own formwork, compare different building materials and test their strength.
The school won a project in the thematic competition “Skill.ED” of the “Kronoshpan” Foundation.
With a budget of 200,000 euros, the foundation supports educational initiatives of secondary and higher schools all over the world. The Burgas Construction High School won funding for the second year in a row, with the total amount of support being 19,900 euros.
The main criteria by which the jury evaluates the projects are: originality, applicability, results, budget and sustainability. The main objective of the initiative is to support general, professional and technical education, and participants are expected to propose original, innovative and practical actions.
In 2022, PGSAG “Kole Ficheto” wins funding for the initial equipment of the laboratory, with the aim of improving practical training. Then several more schools in Bulgaria were financed. In 2023, the high school is the only Bulgarian secondary school supported in the competition, already for upgrading the available equipment.
The other supported schools are from Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Latvia.
The laboratory, which PGSAG “Kole Ficheto” has equipped, already welcomes students from the “Construction Technician” specialty from grades 9 to 12. They are purchased a set of sieves for determining the grain size composition of additive material, a sclerometer for controlling the strength of concrete, Abrams cone and Vika device for determining the properties of the concrete mixture, mechanical press for testing concrete strength, multifunctional polymer formwork system, etc.
This academic year, future builders entered completely renovated workshops that will be used by all majors.
The repairs were made during the summer vacation with the school’s own funds and projects. All workshops are equipped with whiteboards, mockups and multimedia to make teaching interesting and easy.
