Bungie’s IDEA Club: Celebrating Latin American Culture or Ignoring Community Concerns?

Bungie has once again decided to ignore the community’s request to address servers and balance in Destiny, instead devoting its energy and time to celebrating the culture of Latin America

National Hispanic Heritage Month (Mes nacional de la herencia hispana) is celebrated in the United States from September 15 to October 15, recognizing the contributions of Hispanics to the history, culture and various achievements of the United States.

Bungie decided not to be left out and join the celebration by introducing IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity Association). These are resource groups that will help Bungie employees connect with people of similar cultural backgrounds, connect with them, share thoughts and perspectives, and promote diverse cultures in Bungie games.

The announcement was accompanied by a post on the social network X, in which Bungie used the gender-neutral terms LatinX and LatinE.

Users in the comments noted that even the descendants of Latin American migrants in the United States do not use these terms, considering them offensive, and the publication itself was even corrected by the community, noting that such terminology is used only by people who do not understand a foreign language and culture at all.

“Nobody doesn’t wantto be addressed like that […] Bungie is definitely racist.”

“Who even approves of such publications?».

“Not all white people are like that They sayonly racist liberals among Democrats.”

“You’d better just swear at me.”

“This is a huge disrespect for my culture and heritage.”.

The SMM manager responsible for the page on the social network only made the situation worsestarting to delete comments from dissatisfied people.
