To cushion the consequences of the Corona virus, Bundestag decided on several tax breaks for citizens and business on Thursday. Among other things, this extended the home office flat rate and the deadlines for submitting tax returns.

Corona bonuses for employees in care, in hospitals and practices remain tax-free up to 4,500 euros. Businesses will have better opportunities to write off and offset losses against profits from previous years.

Traffic light and Union agreed
If you get help from a tax advisor with your tax return, you only have to submit the return for 2021 in August 2023. If you do the tax return yourself, you have until the end of October. The federal government expects tax losses of 235 million euros from the aid this year. By 2026, they should add up to more than eleven billion.
