Bad slip in the “snow waltz”: Club world champion Bayern Munich made a historic mistake four days after his historic “six pack” and gave away points at home against Arminia Bielefeld for the first time in 36 years. The record champions were surprisingly taken by surprise by the cold-blooded climber, but at least saved a wild 3: 3 (0: 2) in a show of strength. Bundesliga debutant Michel Vlap (9th), Amos Pieper (37th) and Joker Christian Gebauer (49th) made Bielefeld dream of their second win in Munich. But world footballer Robert Lewandowski with his 25th goal of the season (48th), Corentin Tolisso (57th) and Alphonso Davies (69th) struck back for the league leaders. Lewandowski even had victory on his head (72nd).
For the first time, Bayern wore the gold world champion crest on their chest. But with a temperature difference of 25 degrees compared to the World Cup in Qatar, they got into the gray everyday much faster than they would have liked. Immediately before kick-off, coach Hansi Flick warned “the right attitude and mentality”, but one or the other of his professionals missed this painfully
When Vlap went 0-1, the assignment between right-back Bouna Sarr and Niklas Süle in the center was not correct, the Dutchman scored from 14 meters. In the second guest goal, the first for Arminia after a corner this season, Süle didn’t jump up. Pieper beheaded without being forced.
It is true that Bayern, who were missing eight professionals, basically determined what happened. But the last decision was often the wrong one; there was a lack of precision and coordination. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who replaced Thomas Müller, who suffered from Corona, had a hard time, but Sarr fell off again even more.
The flow of the game in Munich was also slowed down by the snowfall: the game had to be interrupted twice in the first half in order to clear the pitch. The fact that the Bielefeld preparations had suffered from the weather during the two-week forced break was hardly noticeable.
0-2 at the break – that’s how it was from Bayern’s point of view at the start of the year against FSV Mainz 05 (5-2). A shot from the post by Leroy Sane (48th) gave the signal to catch up again, just seconds later Lewandowski hit the connection well worth seeing after taking the chest with a volley. But Gebauer, who came shortly before the break for the ailing Ritsu Doan, restored the old gap in direct return.
But Bayern finally showed bite and will. Tolisso headed to Sane’s perfect cross and a forceful shot from Davies equalized. Munich now pressed and still did not seem confident in the protection, Lewandowski almost scored 4: 3 at the front – but his header was cleared just before the line (88th).
