Bavaria without Müller? Müller without Bayern, but at another German club, in another European league or even on another continent? Inconceivable! And because he himself has now made it clear that he wants to play until 2025, discussions about an early extension should be intensified and brought to a conclusion as quickly as possible – so that the crowd favorite doesn’t start to ponder or get the impression that he is no longer needed.
Yes, the Müller-always-plays days are rightly over, he has his absolute best years as a formative player figure behind him and will be 35 next September. But: He is still an incredibly important piece of the puzzle for this team. If he continues to accept the role of challenger, as he currently does, Tuchel can now and then offer him the prospect of a starting eleven, as he did in the Champions League against FC Copenhagen, and does not neglect him; there is nothing to be said against a quick contract extension.
