Freiburg won 2-1 at newly promoted Werder Bremen after a 1-0 deficit and celebrated the 250th win in their Bundesliga history. Fifth in the table, Freiburg are just one point behind fourth place, which entitles them to take part in the Champions League next season.
On the other hand, Union Berlin suffered another setback in the fight for a place in the Champions League. In the home game against VfL Bochum, which was threatened with relegation, the Köpenickers did not get more than a 1-1 draw. Third in the Bundesliga, Union is just one point ahead of RB Leipzig and two points ahead of SC Freiburg.
There was also a draw in the third Sunday game. For the Leverkusen team coached by Xabi Alonso, it was only enough for a 0-0 away game at VfL Wolfsburg, Bayer had previously won five times in a row in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen remains sixth in the Bundesliga table, while VfL is still in ninth place, four points behind.
