Gernot Trauner has been an integral part of Austria’s upper house for years. Since moving to the youth club LASK, he has also been one of the outstanding figures in the Bundesliga.
The central man in the LASK three-man chain played his way up to the national team and also on the notes of many clubs from a European top league with constant performance. In the “Sky” podcast “Der Audiobeweis”, Trauner makes it clear that he is not available for every offer:
“I have always said: If there is an interesting offer from abroad, then I will deal with it. At the same time, I know what I have at LASK, as far as my position at LASK is concerned. I feel extremely comfortable, I feel accepted , I feel a high degree of appreciation for myself. “
A career end is therefore far from being an issue: “At the moment I am still fit and can still imagine a few years of professional football – and yes, if that’s at LASK, please.”
“LASK is a top address”
The strong performances in the recent past are also noticeable for Trauner and Co. on the green lawn.
“LASK is no longer an outsider, LASK is a top address in Austria and everyone has respect for us, how we act against the ball. And so the opponent thinks about something and then tries, I think, to play less, wants that Minimize the risk of building up the game and then the long balls often come, “says the 28-year-old, referring to the changed approach of most opponents.
However, this also provides a new “challenge” for the black and whites, who are virtually forced by the opponents to find playful solutions due to the higher possession of the ball.
Another building block for a successful future for the people of Linz is the new stadium. The captain is also delighted: “LASK has undergone tremendous sporting development, has become a top address and a good Bundesliga home stadium is part of it. So that’s the logical step that is coming now.”
After a few appearances in the Europa League, Trauner also gained his first experience in the national team in autumn. At the upcoming EM in the summer, of course, he hopes to be part of Franco Foda’s squad:
“Of course I hope that I play a role and that I can be there at the European Championship. I concentrate on my cause here on site, that’s the only thing I can do. What comes next, I can’t anyway influence, the team boss then decides. “
