Bayern coach Vincent Kompany makes two changes to the starting line-up against Frankfurt. Thomas Müller is in the starting line-up for the first time this Bundesliga season; Müller was only allowed to start in the DFB Cup game in Ulm. Raphael Guerreiro also replaces Konrad Laimer at right-back.
Before kick-off, Kompany was at DAZN asked why he chose Müller. “His enthusiasm and freshness were also important for us,” said the coach in favor of the veteran. “Thomas was one of our best players in pre-season but of course there is Musiala and Harry Kane and it is a moment for him now. We are also looking forward to having Thomas Müller in the team.”
Michael Ballack also commented on Bayern’s starting eleven. “The coach reacted today and decided on Thomas Müller. That’s never a mistake, as we know.” Müller then proved this with Munich’s opening goal when he prepared Minjae Kim’s goal.

A long series ended a little later when the Bayern veteran received a yellow card for a tactical foul. For Müller it was the first yellow card in the Bundesliga in 130 games; he last saw yellow on May 23, 2020 – also against Frankfurt.
