UVC Weberzeile secured first place two rounds before the end of the second round in the volleyball Bundesliga. At the weekend, the team of coach Dominik Kefer won away against Klagenfurt 3-0 (25:22, 25:23 and 25:21)
The Innviertler were able to win all six games of the intermediate round so far, only one set was given. “Klagenfurt played exactly as we expected, made few mistakes and defended well. We made good decisions, though, and I’m proud of the team,” said Kefer. In the remaining two games of the intermediate round, the young players should get more playing minutes at the Riedern.
For the playoffs, the Rieder have achieved a good starting position thanks to the successful run. There was nothing to be seen of the longer period of weakness in the basic round in the past few weeks. The Rieder want to take their self-confidence into the Bundesliga quarter-finals. Ried is likely to meet Amstetten there.
It’s not the only duel with the Lower Austrians. On February 12th, the team from Innviertel has a great chance of making it into the final in the cup semi-final against Amstetten.
This home game, which has to be played without a spectator due to the Corona situation, will be broadcast live with a commentator on volleynet.at/tv and also on the Rieder volleyball players’ Facebook page. (tst)
