Bundesliga soccer team 1. FC Union Berlin mourns the loss of its honorary president: Günter Mielis, co-founder and long-time official of Köpenicker, died on Friday at the age of 98. The Champions League participant did not provide any information about the cause of death.

Mielis played a major role in the founding of the club in 1966. Between 1975 and 1982 he was president of the Unioner. Before and after he also worked in various functions.
