Austrian players accounted for 68.1 percent of all possible Bundesliga minutes played in 2020/21. That can be seen from the overall balance that the Bundesliga presents after the end of the season.
Age groups younger than U22 account for 10.5 percent. The Austrian stronghold was SV Ried with 86.1 percent (total) and 7.9 percent (younger than U22). Admira, with 70.5 and 23.7 percent respectively, was a role model, especially when it came to young talent – followed by Wiener Austria (17.3 percent) and WSG Tirol (16.4 percent). The “violets” are also strongly represented among the red-white-red players (83.5 percent).
Red Bull Salzburg is the only club that misses the criteria to participate in the Austrian pot. To do this, at least twelve Austrian players must appear on the game report in championship games. If a club does not meet the criteria in a game, it will not receive any funding in the corresponding third of the season. LASK, for example, only loses out on these funds for the second accounting period.
With the Salzburgers, only a third of the possible minutes of use was completed by Austrians.
Rapid (67.9 percent) is on average, Sturm (61.1 percent) slightly below. Striking: Although the LASK does not meet the Austrian criteria in one third of the season, the overall value of 72.0 percent is strong. However, as with Hartberg, there is hardly any playing time for young players (0.8 and 0.7 percent respectively).
In the second division, the average is 73.0 percent for Austrians overall and 29.0 percent for U22 players. The front runner is Rapid II with 95.0 percent, ahead of Lafnitz and the GAK (94.0 percent each), with as many as 87.0 percent in Grün-Weiß being U22 talents. However, Rapid II is not entitled to act as a second representative for the Austrian pot.
