The return of football to Germany is becoming more and more clear. If the clubs have recently been authorized to resume training while respecting certain sanitary measures, the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, gave the green light on Wednesday for a resumption of the Bundesliga and the 2.Bundesliga in the next days. The exact date was still unclear, however, with some parties wishing to resume May 15 where others hope May 22.
According to information from Sport Bild across the Rhine, the German championship will indeed resume its rights on May 15, in stadiums which will obviously be devoid of supporters to fight against the spread of the Covid-19. The German Football League (DFL), which reacted to the government’s decision on Wednesday evening, will meet on Thursday and will officially give the date scheduled for a restart of the Bundesliga. The championship was suspended on March 13, while the German clubs still have 9 days to go.
