Attention football fans!
The Second Bundesliga starts the second half of the season with a real banger: the three Sunday lunchtime games will all be shown in a conference on free TV.
Hertha BSC welcomes Fortuna Düsseldorf, Greuther Fürth visits SC Paderborn and Wehen Wiesbaden travels to Magdeburg. From 1:30 p.m. the ball will be rolling on all three courts.
The second division conference on free TV
The conference can be seen on RTL. The preliminary reporting starts at 1 p.m., kick-off on the three pitches is at 1:30 p.m.
Presenter Laura Papendick (celebrating her 35th birthday on the day of the broadcast) and ex-Unioner Felix Kroos (32) will host the broadcast from the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The usual Sky voices will provide the commentary.
The awards conference on free TV comes about through a cooperation with rights holder Sky. In December, both announced their two-year collaboration, under which RTL will be able to show three second division conferences and seven Formula 1 Grand Prix. There will also be a Premier League game every week RTL+ (advertisement) can be seen.
In return, Sky or WOW (Advertisement) broadcast two games from the Europa League or Europa Conference League every game week.
This afternoon, football Germany can look forward to exciting games on free TV. What can be expected from each game? BILD has the overview.
Hertha BSC – Fortuna Düsseldorf
With Fortuna, the fourth-placed team travels from the capital to seventh. Daniel Thioune’s (49) team is coming off a mixed winter break, with one win, one draw and one defeat in their three test matches.
Hertha was a little more successful, winning twice and losing once. Impressive: the triumph over Glasgow Rangers, second in the Scottish league (1-0).
Coach Pal Dardai (47): “They were a top opponent, they played with the A team in the first half. Nevertheless, we had good possession of the ball.”

SC Paderborn – SpVgg Greuther Fürth
With Paderborn and Fürth, two direct neighbors in the table meet each other – on Sunday afternoon it will be sixth against fifth.
The hosts achieved two wins and one defeat in three test matches. Especially with the 6-1 win against third division team Preußen Münster, the team really warmed up for the start of the second half of the season.
The Middle Franconians have had a significantly less successful training camp. Coach Alexander Zorniger’s (56) team entered the second half of the season with one draw and two defeats – including a sensitive 6-1 defeat at VfB Stuttgart.
Both teams will try to put pressure on Düsseldorf, who are playing at the same time, on Sunday – they are within striking distance.
1. FC Magdeburg – SV Wehen Wiesbaden
The Magdeburgers, ranked in 13th place, urgently need something countable – only three points separate the team of coach Christian Titz (52) from the relegation place.
Returnee Tobias Müller (29) has fully settled into the defense of the Elbestadt team and is confident about the second half of the season: “We have become a homogeneous bunch and have moved a little closer together. We were able to work on the details and prepare for the game as best as we could.”
The Eastern club’s test match record: one win, one draw, one defeat.
Opponent Wehen Wiesbaden is playing a very solid season after being promoted to the lower house and is in 11th place. Coach Markus Kauczinski (53) was satisfied with the winter training camp (one win, one draw), but also has great respect for the upcoming away game : “Especially in Magdeburg, with a fanatically supportive audience, a tough task awaits us.”
