After three defeats in a row, 1. FC Köln are only three points ahead of the relegation place. Thus, the pressure on coach Markus Gisdol, who is apparently not undisputed within the club, is growing.
According to “Sport Bild” there is criticism of Gisdol’s defensive tactics from within the team. The Rhinelander have already conceded 41 goals in the Bundesliga season so far. Only FC Schalke 04 (61), 1. FSV Mainz 05 (44) and Hertha BSC (42) are even weaker in this statistic. In addition, 1. FC Köln is the third most harmless attack in the league with only 21 goals scored.
According to the report, nervousness is growing in the association’s committees, after all, relegation would also have serious financial consequences for Cologne. The upcoming game against Werder Bremen is therefore a “game of fate” for Gisdol, they say.
However, the FC coach is very familiar with a tense sporting situation, after all, Gisdol has been criticized by many supporters for a long time – and has had to fear his dismissal once or twice in the past few months.
