Here you can find out everything you need to know about the eleventh matchday of the Bundesliga at a glance: Who is playing against whom and when? What is the (personnel) situation, what do the statistics say? After the final whistle there are also reports on all games.
Werder Bremen – RB Leipzig 1:1 (0:0)
RB Leipzig dropped two points in the race for the Champions League places. In their last Bundesliga game of the year, the Saxons couldn’t get past a 1-1 (0-0) draw at Werder Bremen despite having more chances. Loïs Openda (47th minute) gave the guests the lead shortly after the break. Justin Njinmah (75th) managed to equalize for Bremen with a nice long-range shot.
Thanks to the point win, Werder is at least slightly increasing their lead over the direct relegation places for the time being. Third-placed Leipzig, on the other hand, could be overtaken by VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday.
Borussia Dortmund – FSV Mainz 05 1:1 (1:1)
Another league slip-up against Mainz 05 ruined Borussia Dortmund’s Christmas and raised burning questions about the future of coach Edin Terzic. The completely uncreative BVB couldn’t get more than a 1-1 (1-1) draw against the relegation candidate at the end of the year and is at least twelve points behind the top of the table after six games in a row without a win. In the coming days, the club management wants to carry out intensive analysis on a regular basis.
206 days after the “master trauma” against Mainz in the same place, Julian Brandt (29th) gave the superior BVB the lead with a dream free kick. But the guests didn’t give up, Sepp van den Berg (43′) headed Mainz’s first goal after 363 minutes. The bonus point in front of 80,350 spectators helps to gain courage for the second part of the season.
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – SV Darmstadt 98 3:3 (2:1)
Newly promoted Darmstadt 98 rewarded itself with a point for a courageous performance and gained new courage in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga before the winter break. Despite being behind three times against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the Hessians achieved a deserved 3:3 (1:2) on Tuesday evening and now have ten points in their account.
In front of 18,125 spectators, Andrej Kramaric scored with a penalty in the 14th minute and Ihlas Bebou (28th/66th) scored for TSG, which moved up to sixth place in the table with 24 points, at least overnight.
