Gelsenkirchen / Berlin (dpa) – On a turbulent football day, several personal details cause a stir. A look at four men who come, go or stay for the time being:
DIMITRIOS GRAMMOZIS: He has a “huge desire for this task,” said the new head coach of FC Schalke 04. Today Grammozis will lead the first training session at the bottom of the table in the Bundesliga, on Friday the relegation duel with FSV Mainz 05 is due. The 42-year-old has played for Hamburger SV, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1. FC Köln, among others. Grammozis started his second career as a coach at VfL Bochum, most recently he coached the second division club SV Darmstadt 98.
FRANK KRAMER: On Wednesday, Frank Kramer will be the head coach on the training ground at his new Arminia Bielefeld club for the second day. The 48-year-old has to fight the skepticism of the fans after the popular promotion coach Uwe Neuhaus has been on leave and should save the East Westphalia from relegation. He starts with two home games against Union Berlin and Werder Bremen – ideally, he then works his way up to a non-relegation place with the climber from 16th place. And what did the ex-trainer of SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Fortuna Düsseldorf and former junior manager at RB Salzburg say? He has “just total desire for this task”.
FREDI BOBIC: Apparently Fredi Bobic also seems to be interested in a new task. On Tuesday evening, the 49-year-old confirmed his departure from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer on the ARD program “Sportschau Thema”. However, the ex-national player did not reveal whether he – as rumored and expected – switched to league competitor Hertha BSC. “I don’t want to go into this topic any longer.” There are “unfortunately too many indiscretions” in public. According to “Bild” information, the Frankfurters want to release their sports director prematurely from the contract that runs until 2023 only for a fee of five million euros.
MARCO ROSE: It has been certain for some time that Marco Rose will switch from one Borussia (Mönchengladbach) to the other Borussia (Dortmund) after this season. But since he made his decision public, things have gone downhill for Gladbach: The cup failure against Rose’s future club was the fourth competitive defeat in a row since then. Even if the fans would like to get rid of him immediately, he doesn’t have to worry about an early end of his work on the Lower Rhine for the time being. “I don’t see the reason why it shouldn’t work,” said Eberl on ARD. The farewell is in the summer, not now.
