The first five game days in the Bundesliga are over, can you already make a forecast for the end of the season? The CIES did it – and created a final table.
Cologne. After five match days in the Bundesliga everything is back to normal at first glance: FC Bayern are leaders, with Greuther Fürth and VfL Bochum the two promoted teams are at the bottom of the table.
Nevertheless, a lot has happened in the Bundesliga. 1. FC Köln under Steffen Baumgart (49) is playing appealing football for the first time in years, Mainz 05 and SC Freiburg have even started a little better than FC.
CIES study: FC Bayern become champions for the tenth time in a row
In contrast, two European clubs, Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt, started the season rather moderately, and Borussia Mönchengladbach is currently playing well below its potential. Can a forecast be made for the final table now?
The International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) did just that! As part of a new calculation, the experts used a statistical model that includes the “experience of the players, the investments for transfer fees to put together the squad and the performance of the individual teams over the past 365 days”.
