FC Augsburg confidently won their first friendly in preparation for the new Bundesliga season and gave new coach Enrico Maassen his first sense of achievement. As expected, the Fuggerstadt team didn’t have any problems in the 5-0 (1-0) win over Bayern division club TSV Schwaben Augsburg on Tuesday evening.
Record purchase Ricardo Pepi gave FCA the lead after around half an hour. Fabio Gruber, who mainly plays in Augsburg’s second team, as well as left-back Iago with a brace and offensive player André Hahn ensured the final score.
For Maassen, who came from Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of June, it was the first game as FCA coach. The Bundesliga team will meet VfB Eichstätt in the next friendly on Friday. On July 31st, the first competitive game in the DFB-Pokal at regional league club TuS Blau-Weiss Lohne is coming up.
