Hamburg (SID) – Bayern Munich’s former goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff expects a victory for the guests in the 110th Bundesliga duel between Werder Bremen and his former club on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky). “Anything else would be a big surprise. I assume that in the end the quality of Bayern will prevail,” said the Belgian to the SID.
The now 67-year-old stood in the goal of the record champions at two memorable north-south peaks in the Weser Stadium. In 1982 Pfaff produced an own goal in his first Bundesliga game by touching the ball after a throw-in from Uwe Reinders. Four years later Michael Kutzop failed with a penalty kick at the goal post, instead of the Hanseatic League a week later, the Munich team with Pfaff as the keeper were champions. “We were at the top of the table exactly once in the season – after the last matchday,” said Pfaff.
