Bundesliga: Dresden volleyball players defeat Stuttgart

The volleyball players from Dresdner SC continued their winning streak against the German champions. Coach Alexander Waibl’s team delivered a strong and consistent performance at Allianz MTV on Saturday Stuttgart with 3:1 (25:23, 23:25, 25:16, 25:23). It was the Elbestadt team’s fifth win in a row in the Bundesliga and even their eighth success across all competitions.

In the first set, the DSC ladies were able to develop a fast and variable attacking game from a stable assumption. In crunch time, the guests made fewer mistakes than the Stuttgart team. In the second round, a battle of equals developed again, this time with the better end for the hosts, with exceptional player Krystal Rivers (26 points) scoring again and again.

But in the third set the MTV ladies made more mistakes again. From the middle of the set, Dresden dictated the action more clearly, setter Sarah Straube ensured a clear lead with a series of serves and diagonal attacker Grace Frohling (23 points), who was later honored as MVP like Rivers, repeatedly found the gaps in the opponent’s block.

In the fourth section the picture initially changed. Stuttgart found its way back into the game and was already leading 14:6, but the guests never gave up. They fought their way point by point with incredible morale and energy, kept their nerve even in the tight final phase and converted the first match point into a deserved victory after 110 minutes.
