FC Bayern – VfL Bochum 7: 0 (4: 0)
FC Bayern continues to present itself in an absolute gala form. Four days after the 3-0 start of the Champions League at FC Barcelona, the Munich team won 7-0 (4-0) against VfL Bochum and after the seventh consecutive competitive game they took over the Bundesliga table lead. Leroy Sané with a fantastic free kick (17th), Joshua Kimmich (27th), Serge Gnabry (32nd) and an own goal by Bochum’s Vassilis Lampropoulos (43rd) ensured clear conditions on Saturday afternoon before the break. After the break, Robert Lewandowski (61st), Kimmich (65th) and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (79th) followed suit. On Sunday, VfL Wolfsburg can take the top spot from Bayern again. For this, the Lower Saxony must win against Eintracht Frankfurt and celebrate the fifth victory in the fifth game. The climber from Bochum slips into the table cellar after the third defeat in a row.

FC Augsburg – Borussia Mönchengladbach 1: 0 (0: 0)
Borussia Mönchengladbach continues to struggle through the season. After the Rhinelander finally succeeded in their first Bundesliga victory against Arminia Bielefeld under their new coach Adi Hütter last weekend, they suffered a bitter setback on Saturday at the previously winless FC Augsburg. The FCA won 1-0 (0-0) thanks to a late goal from substitute Florian Niederlechner (80th) and ensured that Borussia had to move downwards in the table with only four points. For Augsburg, however, the success was a longed-for liberation, with which they also outstripped the Gladbachers in the classification.

Mainz 05 – SC Freiburg 0-0
The duel between the two previous Bundesliga surprise teams has not produced a winner: Mainz 05 and SC Freiburg have to be content with one point each after a 0-0 draw, although the guests from Breisgau are more likely to book the draw on a foreign place as a success. But the draw is too little for the SCF to establish itself in the upper third of the table in the medium term. Mainz has one point more than Freiburg with ten points, but would have been only too happy to go further after the previous victories against SpVgg Greuther Fürth and TSG Hoffenheim.

Arminia Bielefeld – TSG Hoffenheim 0-0
Arminia Bielefeld is still waiting for the first victory after the fifth matchday. The Ostwestfalen did not go beyond a 0.0 against TSG Hoffenheim and after their fourth draw of the season they are still on the spot. The trend doesn’t look much better among the Kraichgauer. After a convincing 4-0 win at FC Augsburg at the start of the season, coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s team did not manage to win any more. After all: TSG still has one point more than Arminia in the account.
