Kassel (dpa) – Promoted HSC 2000 Coburg has celebrated the first win of the season in the handball Bundesliga in the eleventh attempt. The previously pointless bottom of the table surprisingly prevailed at MT Melsungen with 32:27 (15:13) and thus gave a sign of life in the relegation battle.
With 2:20 points, the Upper Franconia managed to catch up with the penultimate TUSEM Essen (3:15). Pontus Zettermann and Florian Billek were the best throwers at Coburg with seven goals each. Yves Kunkel scored six times for the disappointing North Hesse, who lost to the top group with 11: 7 points due to the embarrassing bankruptcy. Backcourt ace Julius Kühn saw the red card five minutes before the end. “That was a catastrophe. We are not allowed to present ourselves that way,” said Melsungen national player Kai Häfner on the pay-TV channel Sky.
TVB Stuttgart won its home game against GWD Minden with 30:26 (12:13) and moved up to fourth place with 15: 9 points. Patrick Zieker and Max Häfner were the most successful shooters for the Swabians with six hits each. The best thrower at Minden was Christoffer Rambo (8 goals).
National player Philipp Weber led the SC DHfK Leipzig with seven goals to a 32:28 (17:12) home win against HSG Wetzlar. The TBV Lemgo Lippe defeated the HSG Nordhorn-Lingen with 36:29 (18:11).
