After the World Cup in Qatar, German fans are looking forward to it second half start the Bundesliga. Finally you can cheer on your favorite team every week. However, contrary to previous years, the organization of the Winter World Championships resulted in a postponement Bundesliga calendar.

Football Bundesliga: When does the second half of the season start in 2023?

Due to the World Cup in Qatar, the Bundesliga winter break this season falls between matchdays 15 and 16. This means that the 16th day Bundesliga year 2023 opened on January 20. However, match day is still part of the first half of the season. The 17th and therefore last day of the first round will then be played in the week a few days later. Of the Start of the second half of the 2023 season (18th day) takes place on January 27th with the game RB Leipzig against VfB Stuttgart.

  • 16th day: 20.01.2023 – 22.01.2023 (first match BL 2023/penultimate matchday of first leg)

  • 21.1.2023, 15:30: Eintracht Frankfurt – Schalke 04, Bochum – Hertha BSC, Union Berlin – Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg – Freiburg, VfB Stuttgart – Mainz
  • 21 January 2023, 6.30pm: 1. FC Cologne – Werder Bremen
  • 22/01/2023, 15:30: Dortmund – Augsburg
  • 22/01/2023, 17:30: Monchengladbach – Leverkusen

Bundesliga broadcast: who shows the start of the second half of the season?

The pay TV broadcaster shares the rights to broadcast the Bundesliga Sky the streaming service provider DAZN and the free TV station Sat.1. However, Sat.1 can only show a select few games, while Friday’s games all take place on DAZN. Saturday is then regularly the turn of Sky. Sunday matches are exclusive to DAZN again. The Bundesliga starts in 2023 with the game Leipzig versus Bavaria it is thus transmitted to DAZN. However, this game also shows Sat.1 im Free-TV as well as on ran.de im Livestream.
