The Central Jakarta Commercial Court ruled that the State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) PT Istaka Karya (Persero) bankrupt. The bankruptcy decision was confirmed by the Corporate Secretary of Istaka Karya, Yudi Kristanto.
He said that after the bankruptcy decision, Istaka would settle the bankruptcy case. This week the management and curator will coordinate for the next stage.
“That’s right (officially bankrupt). Because of that, the curator came in to settle the bankruptcy case. It is estimated that this week the curator will have a meeting with Istaka management to coordinate further,” said Yudi as quoted from detik.comMonday (18/7).

Istaka Karya is a consortium construction company that was founded in 1979 under the name PT ICCI which stands for Indonesian Consortium of Construction Industries.
Istaka Karya itself is included in the list of state-owned companies that will be dissolved by SOE Minister Erick Thohir.
However, Yudi explained that bankruptcy is different from being dissolved. Bankruptcy is a legal process in which a company is declared unable to pay its debts by court order. Therefore, companies need to make asset settlements.
“If SOEs are dissolved, there needs to be a decision from the government as a state-owned enterprise. SOEs can be dissolved due to mergers and acquisitions or bankruptcy or bankruptcy,” said Yudi.
Previously, Erick targeted seven SOEs that were no longer operating to close this year. One of them is Istaka Karya. Several other SOEs, including PT Industri Glass (Persero) or Iglas, PT Kertas Kraft Aceh (Persero), PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Persero), and PT Industri Sandang Nusantara (Persero).
Erick explained that the dissolution of the ghost SOE was part of his target to streamline the number of SOEs from 108 to 30 companies.
He targets the number of SOEs to shrink to 37 by the end of his tenure. Then, the rest will be continued by the next minister.
“During my leadership from 41 to 37, whoever the minister will be can continue up to the number we aspire to, which is 30,” explained Erick.
