“Without security there is no economic prosperity,” both agreed.
The Argentine Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, met this Monday in Washington DC with the deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Gita Gopinath, to analyze the anti-picketing policy of the South American official. “Without security there is no economic prosperity,” they both agreed.
Bullrich and Gopinath reviewed “the problems that Argentina was going through when the government headed by Javier Milei took office, such as pickets, blockades of companies, uncontrolled subsidies and an inefficient State, among other challenges,” according to a statement from Buenos Aires.
The Argentine organization highlighted how it restored public order, achieved macroeconomic stability and lowered Rosario’s homicide rate, in addition to a 16% increase in drug trafficking arrests.
“Gopinath noted that the achievements have been impressive and that the results exceeded expectations. He highlighted the zero deficit and President Milei’s popularity and closeness to the people’s problems,” the document from the Ministry of Security continues.
“The transformation that the country is going through today is based on a concept that Hobbes pointed out in Leviathan: ‘security is an indispensable condition for freedom,’” Bullrich emphasized.
Argentina is “the safest country in South America, followed by Uruguay and Chile, according to the 2024 Global Peace Index,” Bulllrich insisted.
