Geneva, May 25 (Prensa Latina) The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom, today thanked Cuba for its support to several nations during the most difficult moments of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I met with the Cuban Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, to discuss Cuba’s efforts to control Covid-19 and develop effective vaccines,” Adhanom wrote on his Twitter social network account.

Chile

Santiago de Chile, May 25 (Prensa Latina) The situation of Covid-19 in Chile worsened again today, as the population’s positivity to diagnostic tests for the disease increased to more than 10 percent, according to official reports.

The Metropolitan Region registered an even higher rate, 14.47 percent, while confirmed cases of the disease during the last 24 hours amounted to 6,010 and deaths to 22, reported the Ministry of Health.

Lisbon, May 25 (Prensa Latina) The President of the National Association of Pharmacies (ANF) of Portugal, Ema Paulino, said today that nearly 1,500 such centers in the country carry out free Covid-19 tests with a prescription medical.

“This morning there were still some specific cases, but at this time we already have all the pharmacies operational to carry out rapid tests of antigens for professional use,” said the head of the ANF, according to the Lusa agency.

India

New Delhi, May 25 (Prensa Latina) The Covid-19 pandemic once again exceeded two thousand cases for the seventh time in the last 10 days in India, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The country registered this Wednesday 2,124 new infections that occurred in the last 24 hours, which represents an increase of almost 17 percent compared to the 1,675 infected individuals that were detected on Tuesday.
