Bulletin # 4: Asymptomatic will not necessarily require a second test of COVID-19

Health authorities reduced quarantine to asymptomatic patients with COVID-19 to 10 days.

“As of July 3, the Ministry of Health published clinical guidelines in which for people with mild covid or asymptomatic patients with ambulatory management, they can end their isolation when they have been more than ten days,” said María Angélica Maya, specialist in diseases infectious diseases of the Antioquia Governorate.

From the Antioquia Health Secretariat it was reported that asymptomatic patients will not necessarily require a second test, however, epidemiologists warn that carriers of the virus that do not present ailments are still transmitters of COVID-19.

“Those who never show any symptoms or if they show a very mild condition, have less contagion capacity, but that does not exempt them from being a risk to other people around them,” said Diego Roselli, professor of epidemiology at the U. Javeriana.
