Bulgaria’s Path to Eurozone Entry: Minister of Finance Optimistic

We see that the main conditions for entering the eurozone are fulfilled, which are related to the budget deficit – we have no problems with the debt. With inflation, we are still outside the parameter, but the gap between Bulgaria and the EU is starting to narrow, so I expect a smooth process that will continue actively. This is what the Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev said to BTA after the opening of the Bulgarian Palace of the Thessaloniki International Fair.

Denkov: This will stabilize people’s incomes

This year, Bulgaria is the country of honor at the Thessaloniki International Fair, which started yesterday and will continue until September 17.

“Greece’s support is extremely strong for both processes. We are working very well with our Greek colleagues to improve the exchange of data between the National Revenue Agency and the Greek Revenue Agency at invoice level. The aim is traceability and no tax avoidance from both countries”, Asen Vasilev also reported.

Inflation in the Eurozone has shrunk to 5.3%

“We are working very actively with the Greek side for our two main priorities – Bulgaria’s entry into Schengen, which will make the movement of goods and people much easier, and business will be much easier, and Bulgaria’s entry into the Eurozone.”commented the minister.

He pointed out that in the next two months there will be key meetings related to the process of Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone.
