We found a solution for the missing funds for Sofia’s plumbing infrastructure. Together with the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, not with the municipal council. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Vasil Terziev, on his Facebook profile.
“The Council of Ministers approved by decree an additional transfer for targeted costs for the water and sanitation infrastructure of our city in the amount of BGN 32,156,348 and an additional transfer of BGN 13,573,000 for security costs for the Sofia metro for December, for which there is also a shortage in the capital budget.
I thank the Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, the Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev and the entire government for showing wisdom and commitment to the residents of Sofia, unlike the Metropolitan Municipal Council.
I am extremely grateful to my team and all involved directorates in the municipality for their tireless teamwork. At the same time, I am ashamed that once again the state has to save the richest municipality in Bulgaria. Still, this is an example of how municipalities and the state can work in sync for the benefit of citizens and for the practical solution of their daily problems,” Terziev also wrote.
