The designer Desislava Tosheva showed her dresses at the Cannes Film Festival, now she will storm Hollywood
A young Bulgarian designer appeared with her outfits on the covers of several global fashion publications.
At the beginning of January, “Faust Magazin” magazine in Paris showed 2 dresses by Desislava Tosheva. The authoritative French fashion publication “Madame Figaro” presented its entire collection of 25 models for “Spring-Summer 2023” – “Night at the Opera” was filmed in the Sofia Opera House. Desi’s collection was also published in Harper’s Bazaar – Spain and “El” – Italy.
“I try to feel all the details
I look at every dress as a work of art,” says Desi.
Last year in May, she presented her outfits at the Haute Couture Showroom at the Cannes Film Festival, and then her dresses appeared in the pages of the fashion bible Vogue. Invitations and participation in a number of sophisticated elite fashion events followed. Her gowns sparkled at The Global Gift Gala for charity hosted by actress Eva Longoria at the iconic Four Seasons Hotel in Paris.
The talented Bulgarian participated in Paris with her own outfits and at the Debutante Ball. On it, young ladies of noble birth are presented for the first time in society with their knights. It’s a matter of recognition and prestige to show your outfit to him. It was here that Desislava Tosheva’s dress was noticed and later published by Vogue.
Today, 25-year-old Desi, who is a graduate of one of the most elite universities in Great Britain – “St. Andrews”, is flooded with invitations to participate. She is about to show her outfits in a showroom in Hollywood. And of course, once again participating in the Cannes festival. On the Island, however, she did not study design, but business and management.
Desi Tosheva was born in Lom, but her parents moved to Sofia when she was 3 years old. She graduated from the First English High School and
because you didn’t like a prom dress, you made it yourself
She made a website herself where she could advertise her models. She says she received 40 orders in one night. She had one more challenge to deal with – how to combine her education with work. And it succeeds in that too.
The first actress to show a Desi outfit was the Italian Lea Murnar. The agency that selects designers for the Show of Stars came across Desislava’s Instagram posts. They contact her and it turns out they have viewed the models on her website. “They were very surprised that I’m from Bulgaria, because according to them, the form of design, the cuts, the overall presentation of my brand is at the world level,” says Desislava.
He receives an invitation to bring 10 of his outfits that are completely unknown. This is how Lea Murnar chooses her golden dress.
Desislava Tosheva does not confine herself only to the circle of fashion. She picks up

Desislava Tosheva: Dressing people is an art in emotion
– Desi, you were born in Lom, what does this city mean to you?
– For me, Lom is my hometown, even though I grew up in Sofia. Lom is a summer vacation with the smell of childhood and grandmother’s pancakes, secession and old city culture, Danube with wonderful sunsets. No matter where I travel and where I end up in the world, Lom is always my home.
– How did you combine your studies and your hobby, from which you earn?
– Since I was little, I followed with interest the reviews of world designers, but I did not imagine that one day I would be a part of this world. Over the years I also showed a strong interest in entrepreneurship, I knew that my education would one day be directed in this field. I somehow managed to combine both.
– Did you expect such success?
– The fashion industry is extremely competitive. Behind these successes are years of sleepless nights, constant learning and lots and lots of work. Sometimes 20 hours a day.
– How does inspiration come to you?
– I look for femininity, elegance and beauty to show with my models. Different cultures, artistic upbringing given by my parents and emotions are my sources of inspiration. It is not by chance that my slogan is “Not just a dress, but an experience”.
Fashion is not only about creating beautiful clothes, but also about promoting a sense of harmony. I believe that what a woman wears affects her confidence and self-esteem. It is an art to create beauty and dress people in emotion.
