The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) recommends that Bulgarian citizens stop traveling to Iran, except in cases of extreme necessity. This is stated in a message of the Situation Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“If there is an extreme need to travel in the coming weeks, Bulgarian citizens who are on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran should exercise caution, inform themselves in advance about the situation and avoid places where large groups of people gather,” the ministry announced.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs draws attention to the fact that the use of photographic equipment (smartphones, cameras, video cameras, etc.) near areas of tension can be a reason for detention or another risky situation.

In case of need for assistance, Bulgarian citizens can contact the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Tehran by phone: + 9821 88775037, 88775662 or by e-mail embassy.tehran@mfa.bg, as well as in an emergency situation and outside working hours – on mobile phone: +98 9305683409.

Signals and requests for assistance in disaster situations from Bulgarian citizens are also accepted 24/7 on the telephone lines of the “Situation Center” Directorate: +359 2 948 24 04; +359 2 971 38 56 or email: crisis@mfa.bg.
