“The statement made by Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova on an internal political topic for Bulgaria is inappropriate”. This is the position of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the statement of the Russian ambassador in an interview with Martin Karboski, published in his video blog.
To the journalist’s question, “If you were a Bulgarian citizen, who would you vote for?”, Mitrofanova answered: “If I were a Bulgarian voter, I would vote for the one I understand… I would probably vote either “I don’t support anyone” or for Kostadinov .”
“Why would I do that? Because perhaps of all, let’s call them conditionally – opposition parties, he at least expresses a clear pro-Bulgarian position, which I like. He does not talk about Russia, he does not say that he is for Russia, and then who is he against? He expresses an absolutely pro-Bulgarian position, which I understand,” says Eleonora Mitrofanova.
“The Bulgarian side defines what was said as an attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the country and in this sense contradicts the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations. The Minister of Foreign Affairs held a conversation in this sense with Ambassador Mitrofanova”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also states.
