/ world today news/ A Bulgarian Islamic Academy will soon open its doors in the old capital of Volga Bulgaria – the city of Bolgar.
Among the main tasks of the new higher Muslim theological school in Russia are the preservation and development of the Tatar theological heritage, raising the level of Islamic religious education, countering the manifestations of radical views and ideologies, and consolidating the Islamic community in Russia based on the principles of traditional values of religion
The initiator of the opening of the academy is the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, who announced his idea at the re-opening, after a 10-year restoration, of the Congregational Mosque in Moscow last year, in the presence of Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
At the beginning of April of this year, the academy received state accreditation as a higher education institution, and on April 21, the first stone for the construction was laid in the courtyard of the mosque in the town of Bolgar.
The date of the symbolic beginning of the construction of the academy is not accidental – it is celebrated on this day in Tatarstan
The day of the official adoption of Islam in Volga Bulgaria in 922.
According to Vladimir Putin, the religious academy will unite adherents of traditional Islam in Russia and oppose Islamic State ideologues and their emissaries seeking to recruit Russian citizens – descendants of the Volga Bulgarians.
Thus, already at the highest level in the Kremlin, the Volga-Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage received official recognition, and the moment of recognition of the dualistic nature of the Russian Federation: East-Slavic and ancient-Bulgarian is not far off.
