The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) announced an outbreak of Influenza A (flu) in birds in the village of Malo Konare, Pazardzhik region.
The virus was detected in a breeding facility for raising laying hens, located on the land of the village of Malo Konare, Pazardzhik district. They are bred in the livestock facility about 171 thousand laying hens.
Around the affected livestock facility are defined: a 3-kilometer safety zone that includes the villages of the Pazardzhik municipality, the village of Malo Konare and the village of Dobrovnitsa; and a 10-kilometer monitored zone – from Pazardzhik municipality, Chernogorovo village, Krali Marko village, Pishtigovo village, Govedare village, Hadzhievo village, Ognyanovo village, Sinitovo village, Miryantsi village, Glavinitsa village, Mokrishte, Mokrishte village, Dragor village, Ivaylo village and Saraya village.
In order to limit the disease and prevent its spread, actions will be taken to humanely kill the diseased and contact birds in the facilities.
An epizootic survey and tracking of the movements of domestic and other birds, eggs, products and animal by-products obtained from them, bird feed, and means of transport related to the technological process in the sites is carried out.
The BABH reminds that the poultry meat and products harvested in a site where an outbreak of avian influenza has been established do not pose a danger to human health.
