“Bulgarian BSP Leader Ninova Criticizes State Leaders’ International Visits during Critical Times”

“We expect him to say tomorrow what his idea is for forming the government,” Ninova specified.

According to her, the meeting will be with teams. The time and place have not been specified.

In her words, we are observing “very strange behavior of so-called statesmen”, after it turned out that many of them are visiting abroad at this critical moment for the country.

“For a month and a half, imitation of negotiations continues,” she commented on the current political situation.

“It’s like the game “there is here, there is no here.” This is what Borisov is doing at the moment. You raise one glass – Maria Gabriel comes out, you raise another – Denkov, management priorities, Excel table. And everything is stirring again very quickly,” said Ninova.

She indicated how the future cabinet should look like: “In my opinion, they should not be bright politicians. We don’t have to be the leaders. Borisov simplified things like this – here you are prime minister, now fill in the boxes. That’s not how it’s done”.

“We will attend these talks, we will listen to them and we will decide with an internal poll,” said the GERB leader.

“I have no problems talking to Borisov critically. I feel like no one else can talk like that,” she added.

“What worries me the most is that no one mentions the key issue for everyone in Bulgaria. That issue is the budget,” she said and asked what the solutions would be.

“If their budget is below a 3% deficit, to enter the Eurozone now and immediately, that means cutting costs.” We do not agree,” said the BSP leader. According to her, the deficit should be no less than 4.5%.

“We are not waiting for their plan. A national plan and program that unites all parties in the parliament, behind which we stand,” she emphasized.

The plan of the BSP is the adoption of the budget in their version, the laws on PVU, the judicial reform, Schengen. “If they agree to all these things with an expert cabinet, I imagine we will support it. If the party members approve this formula,” Ninova clarified.

“Come, say what you propose, we go to the party, say what, and whatever is decided”, she indicated the next actions of the party after a possible meeting with GERB.

Ninova recalled that the BSP has been insisting for a thorough judicial reform and Geshev’s resignation for years. “I think that Geshev’s head is part of an offer for a government. I think that this offer by Gabriel is an offer to the PP-DB that they cannot resist,” she believes.

According to her, it is not right for Gabriel to talk about “my government” and “my ministers”. “First, you are not chosen, Ms. Gabrielle,” Ninova pointed out.

“But for him to declare this now and immediately, this already appears as a political intervention. This lightning reaction of these six prosecutors is even more incomprehensible,” she commented.

Ninova addressed the members of the Supreme Judicial Council appointed by the BSP: “Interesting events are likely to come in the SJC. Don’t give in to political pressure wherever it comes from. It won’t come from us.”

“True judicial reform is a change in at least 4-5 laws. The most essential and very thorough would be through a change in the Constitution,” she pointed out.
