Bulgarian border guard killed for stealing pets (Video)

“We have received information from the Turkish authorities that this is not an offense related to illegal immigration or organized crime. Rather, it is a criminal offense of a domestic nature. Probably – theft of farm animals. From the Turkish side, stealing animals , which are located in the border area,” the head of the Yambol District Prosecutor’s Office Doychin Doychev said in a briefing after the meeting between the Bulgarian and Turkish authorities over the murder of the Bulgarian border policeman Petar Bachvarov .

“The investigation continued. Colleagues have done a considerable amount of work, as have we. Expert reports show that the murder was committed with a 12-gauge hunting weapon, and the bullets were for big game. The investigation on the shooting is coming to a close.” Doichev said.

“Today we held a coordination meeting with the Turkish authorities. The idea was to exchange information so that the investigation could be completed as soon as possible. It is in an advanced stage, not to mention nearing completion” , Doychev explained.

On November 7, border police officer Petar Bachvarov was shot while walking around the fence between Bulgaria and Turkey. Two Turkish nationals, Engin E. (24) and ME (28), brothers, were arrested for the murder.
