It costs 170,000 to send the first armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, which have already arrived in the country. This was stated by the retired Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev at a press conference in the Ministry of Defense, a BGNES reporter reported.
He presented the process of sending the Bulgarian armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, recalling that on November 20 the Council of Ministers approved the agreements with Kyiv.
“The agreement was ratified on November 22. The law was promulgated on January 2,” the minister said.
On 24 January 2024, an order was issued for the transport of the war machines, and five days later, on 29 January, the operation to send the machines began, with the first echelon of 30 wagons leaving on 7 March.
240 military personnel participated in the operation. Minister Tagarev awarded Biser Minchev, Deputy Minister of Transport, Atanas Zapryanov, Deputy Minister of Defense, Ivelina Dundakova, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and military personnel, for the organization of logistics and transportation of the armored transport equipment.
Todorov Tagarev also said that the decision whether he will remain in his current post will be made by the political forces. He expressed hope that “whoever is the defense minister” will receive parliamentary support.
Tagarev assured that the radars for the F-16 fighters will arrive on time, noting that the current modernized Bulgarian systems from the Soviet era can also be used, BGNES reports.
The Ministry of Defense continues to work on the preparation of the infrastructure of the “Graf Ignatievo” air base.
Asked if there was a possibility of new additional military aid to Ukraine, Tagarev said there were solutions that were still open.
Regarding the acquisition of the American Stryker combat vehicles, the minister has the assurance of the management of the TEREM plant that all the necessary actions to prepare the infrastructure will be completed in time
