/ world today news/ Bulgaria intends to pay its debt to “Rosatom” in the claim for the “Belene” NPP by the middle of December 2016. This was announced on Tuesday (October 25) by TASS, referring to the Minister of Energy of Bulgaria, Temenuzka Petkova, reported
“In view of the importance of the payment, especially in view of the fact that €167,000 is charged every day for the amount owed. They assure us that the issue is being considered as a priority, I am sure that by mid-December we will certainly pay,” Petkova announced at a press conference.
She also added that the Bulgarian state energy company NEK has turned to the International Arbitration with a request to indicate the terms for paying the penalties on the debt to the Russian state corporation.
In turn, the Deputy Chairman of Rosatom, Kiril Komarov, stated that the corporation is ready, at the first request of the Bulgarian side, to deconserve the equipment that was developed for the Belene NPP in order to conduct an inspection.
Earlier, the management of the state corporation “Rosatom” asked Bulgaria to pay the 620 million rubles owed for the termination of the construction of the Belene NPP.
