/ world today news/ The degradation of Bulgarian society lies in the change in the behavior of people in our country and this is not an isolated case. We are part of a worldwide trend noticed by a number of philosophers. There is nothing surprising about it.
Writers and thinkers say that in many ways the 21st century is returning to the dark ages. And what is characteristic of them is that the centralized power known from the structure of the Roman Empire falls away, conflicts begin in Europe, wars swarm, all kinds of battles begin in almost every principality or county, and in this way the power of the spiritual and political leaders is lost. Dramatic developments took place, and the Middle Ages gradually established the dual power between the state and the church.
Nowadays, we are returning to those times again – the state is weakened, and it has an important function, figuratively speaking – of a watchdog while people sleep at night. The situation with the churches is similar. Yes, Pope Francis has made appeals for humanity and peace, but they seem somewhat disconnected from what people want to hear. In the Christian world, where there should be humanism and reconciliation, politicians like Zbigniew Brzezinski say that what stands in the way is Orthodoxy. And an example of this is the clash between Orthodoxy and Catholicism in Central and Western Ukraine.
In the Middle East, we are shocked to see how fighters of the Islamic State are trying to restore the Caliphate and kill Muslims because they were not as righteous as possible, according to their views. Religious fundamentalism, which literally marches across North Africa, weakens powerful structures of the state. There are no two opinions – from the point of view of social psychology, these are completely crazy people, completely deviated from the norm. Along with all this, we also observe the strong decline of faith and religion, to the point where it comes to mixing them with various occultisms. So it was in the dark times.
The similarities of part of today’s world with the Middle Ages are there – large-scale territorial changes, complete rejection of the Helsinki process and the collapse of borders. A number of federal states in Europe broke away. And Ukraine is about to fall apart. And these processes are accompanied by threatening refugee flows mainly to Europe, a mass of people arriving from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia.
The parameters of urban and social life are also changing – to paraphrase, democracy is no longer the bad thing that is the only possible and reasonable thing. Everywhere we look there is a movement of literal tectonic plates. Unions and trade unions have also become decorative structures – they talk about something but do nothing substantial. The different communities that are created in the places of the previous ones are dangerously connected to the criminal world and garnished with a number of unusual groups and sects. Families are also falling apart. I would call this, at least for Europe, the beginning of holy madness, and further east in places it passes for the norm.
The erosion of society and the political class is characteristic not only of Bulgaria, but also of the whole of Europe. Analyzes show that at the beginning of the formation of the European Union, high-class policies were in operation, many times higher than the current ones. Today, there is not a single authoritative figure in the West, and according to a number of their publications, the most popular is Russian President Vladimir Putin. Isn’t that a sign of something?
Is there a way out of the dark times? Of course there is. And the lessons are in history. During the Renaissance, Europe established its culture, experienced a full flowering of the arts, of the free spirit, to be able to pass through the dark ages and thus the world came to life. I think it will happen again, but until then the hardy will have to hold on. And we are among them – we have a healthy gene from several cultural traditions and no matter what is done, we will survive. We will give branches and shoots even in this melting pot we are in today.
Bulgaria will not perish as a civilization, but it will go through its next purification.
Look, now we are ruled by people whom the people hate! Of course, all tribes and peoples are highly dependent on their elites, but the Bulgarian people are extremely dependent on who is in power. When strong figures stand there, suddenly we start going strongly up and forward. But now they are leading us down, and we walk oppressed and with bowed heads. I think this is also a period that we have to go through. /BGNES
